Phenergan Overview, Dosage, How to Take, Side Effects and Overdose

What is Phenergan? Phenergan (Promethazine) belongs to a group of drugs called phenothiazines. It works by changing the actions of chemicals in your brain. Phenergan also acts as an antihistamine. It blocks the effects of the naturally occurring chemical histamine in your body. Phenergan is used to treat allergy symptoms such as itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and itchy skin rashes. Phenergan also prevents motion sickness and treats nausea and vomiting or pain after surgery. It is also used as a sedative or sleep aid.

Phenergan dosage. It’s not necessary to eat before taking prhenergan.

  • For allergies: take one to four times a day, before meals and/or at bedtime
  • For cold symptoms: take every four to six hours
  • For motion sickness: 30 to 60 minutes before travelling and again after eight to 12 hours if needed
  • For vomiting or to prevent nausea: take every four to six hours
