Prolia Uses, Dosage, How to Take, Side Effects and Pregnancy

Prolia is a monoclonal antibody. Monoclonal antibodies are made to target and destroy only certain cells in the body. This may help to protect healthy cells from damage. The Prolia brand of denosumab is used to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who have high risk of bone fracture. Prolia is also used to increase bone mass in women and men with a high risk of bone fracture caused by receiving treatments for certain types of cancer.

Prolia dosage. Take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully. The dose your doctor recommends may be based on the following:

  • the condition being treated
  • othe medical conditions you have
  • other medications you are taking
  • how you respond to this medication

The recommended dose of Prolia (denosumab) is 60 mg injected under the skin in the upper arm, upper thigh, or abdomen every 6 months.
