Ramipril Uses, How to Take, Side Effects, Dosage and Precautions

What is Ramipril? Ramipril is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Ramipril is also used to improve survival after a heart attack. It may also be used in high risk patients (such as patients with heart disease/diabetes) to help prevent heart attacks and strokes. This medication may also be used to treat heart failure in patients who have had a recent heart attack.

How to take Ramipril. Ramipril can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole. You may open the capsule and sprinkle the medicine into a half-cup (4 ounces) of water, apple juice, or applesauce to make swallowing easier. Swallow without chewing. You may store the mixture for up to 24 hours at room temperature, or up to 48 hours in a refrigerator. Call your doctor if you have ongoing vomiting or diarrhea, or if you are sweating more than usual.
