What is Rocephin? Rocephin is the brand name of ceftriaxone sodium, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that’s used to fight bacteria in your body. Rocephin is administered through a vein (IV) or through a shot (muscle injection). Your doctor may use Rocephin to treat severe or life-threatening forms of bacterial infections such as meningitis.

Rocephin dosage. Take Rocephin exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully.

  • The recommended dose range for Rocephin in children is 50 mg/kg to 4 grams total once a day or divided into even doses given twice a day
